Cookie Notice

The short version

This site does not put cookies on a visitor's device. It runs no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of its own. The one cookie it can set belongs to the person who runs the site, and only while they are signed in to the private editor used to update the page.

The music players embedded on the page are loaded from other companies. Once one of those players loads, that company can set its own cookies in your browser. Those are the cookies you may pick up while you are here, and Lowkey718 neither sets nor controls them.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to store and hand back later. Sites use cookies to keep someone signed in, remember a setting, or count and profile visitors. Similar technologies, such as local storage, do much the same job. Where this notice says the site stores nothing on your device, that covers those too.

The one cookie this site sets

There is one, and it is named lk718_admin.

Who gets it: the site operator, after signing in to the private editor used to update this page. It is not set for ordinary visitors.
What it does: it holds a PHP session identifier so the editor knows the operator is still signed in from one page to the next. It is a random identifier and carries no personal details.
How long it lasts: the session. It goes away when the browser session ends, when the operator signs out, or when the session expires on the server.
Why it exists: without it there is no way to hold an admin session open, so the editor would not work.

That is the whole list of cookies this site sets.

What this site does not do

No analytics cookies. There is no Google Analytics or similar product on this page.
No advertising or marketing cookies. Nothing on this site sells ads or shows them.
No pixels, tags, or conversion trackers.
No cross-site or cross-device tracking by this site, and no profiling of visitors by this site.
No visitor accounts and no visitor logins, so there is nothing about you for the site to remember.

All of that describes what Lowkey718 does. It does not describe the embedded players, which are covered further down.

Link clicks are counted without a cookie

Each link on the page has a counter that goes up by one when the link is used. The counter is a single running number per link, kept on the site's own server. It is not stored on your device and it is not tied to a cookie, an identifier, an IP address, a session, or a device. It cannot tell one person from another, or a repeat click from a first click. It exists so the artist knows which releases people are opening.

Things this site collects that are not cookies

If you type your email address into the mailing list form and submit it, the site stores that address together with your IP address and the time you submitted it, as a record that you asked to be on the list. That is not a cookie and nothing is written to your device, but it is worth knowing about, so it is stated here rather than buried. Unsubscribing uses the one-click link on any email and deletes the record. The privacy notice is where the detail on that lives, including anything the web host records about visits.

Embedded players from other companies

The page embeds players so you can listen without leaving. Those players are loaded from Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music and SoundCloud, and they run inside frames served by those companies.

When an embedded player loads, your browser contacts that company's servers directly. The company can receive your IP address, information about your browser, and the fact that a player was loaded on this page. It can also set its own cookies, or read cookies you already have from it, including cookies tied to an account you are signed in to there.

That is their processing, not ours. Lowkey718 does not choose what those companies store, cannot read those cookies, and cannot switch them off from this page. Their own policies govern it:

The same goes for the links out to Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL, Amazon Music, iTunes, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Threads. Once you follow one, you are on that company's site under its rules, not this one's.

Blocking or clearing cookies

Nothing needs doing on this site's account, because it is not storing anything on your device. If you want to limit what the embedded players do, your browser is the place to do it. Every major browser lets you:

block third-party cookies, or block cookies from specific companies;
delete cookies that are already stored;
browse in a private or incognito window, which discards cookies when you close it;
turn on built-in tracking protection, where the browser offers it.

Look under privacy or content settings in your browser, or use its help pages. Browser extensions and content blockers can go further and stop the embedded players from loading at all. You can also skip the players entirely and use the outbound links, or open a release directly in the app you already use.

What breaks: blocking third-party cookies or scripts may stop the Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music or SoundCloud players from playing, or make them show an error instead of loading. The rest of the page, including the links and the mailing list form, still works.

Why you are not asked to accept cookies

There is no banner because Lowkey718 sets nothing on a visitor's device to ask about. The only cookie is the operator's sign-in session, and it is never set for visitors.

Being straight about the limits of that: it is Lowkey718's own reasoning about its own site, not a ruling by anyone, and it says nothing about the embedded players, which are third-party services that can set cookies once they load. What the law requires for embeds like those differs by country and is still being argued over. Lowkey718 will keep this under review, and if a banner or a click-to-load step for the players is needed, this page and the site will change. If the site ever adds analytics or anything else that is not strictly necessary, you will be asked first.

Nothing on this page signs away rights you have where you live. Depending on your country that can include asking what is held about you, asking for it to be deleted, and complaining to a data protection authority. The contact address below reaches a real person, and the privacy notice sets out how to use those rights.

Changes to this notice

If what the site sets or embeds changes, this page is updated. The version published here is the current one. There is no mailing of updates, so it is worth a look if you care about the detail.
